SS26 NEW YORK FASHION WEEK RECAP

Fashion week is back & New York Fashion Week closed its SS26 run with a quiet but unmistakable message: luxury is re-centering. Recent shows exhibit balanced minimalist restraint with flashes of drama, offering a vision of fashion that is both wearable and aspirational.

Calvin Klein: Minimalism with Momentum

Hitting things off on a strong start, Veronica Leoni’s debut for Calvin Klein set the tone. Sleek tailoring and sharply cut coats showed a designer confident enough to pare everything back. The collection reasserted Calvin Klein’s DNA, clean, architectural lines, while feeling fresh for a generation leaning toward quiet luxury.

Khaite: Soft Structure

Khaite cemented its place at the heart of modern New York style. Leather blazers with twisted hems, fluid knits, and rich textures struck a rare balance of everyday ease and evening polish, luxury you can live in. Also featuring bold, black sunglasses designed for an understated statement look.

Michael Kors: Elevated Utility

Michael Kors offered a masterclass in understated power dressing. Oversized coats, crisp outerwear, and a neutral palette delivered elegance for real life, reflecting a market that prizes investment pieces over one-season statements.

Carolina Herrera & Coach: Two Sides of Bold

Carolina Herrera’s Wes Gordon embraced jewel tones and sweeping florals, proving glamour still commands a runway. Coach countered with grit, baggy denim, distressed leather and workwear silhouettes, capturing the energy of a younger luxury audience.

Accessories Take Centre Stage

Even jewellery claimed the spotlight. Chopard’s “Ice Cube” haute joaillerie collection reframed accessories as art, pairing architectural geometry with high shine.

Emerging Trends & Themes

Quiet Luxury / Elevated Minimalism: Understated elegance was a through-line (e.g. clean tailoring, neutral palettes) – how to signal luxury without shouting. Calvin Klein and Khaite are good examples.

Street / Utility Influences: Workwear, distressed leathers, denim, function-led pieces, luxury brands borrowed from the streets. Coach was especially forward.

Bold Color & Drama in Expected Places: Brands like Carolina Herrera leaned into jewel tones, florals, bold prints. These contrast with the quiet luxury side. Mix of drama and softness.

Authenticity & Edge: Consumers seem less impressed by polished facades. Raw finishes, distressed edges, texture, materials with real tactile or visual interest are resonating.
